Scholarships

One of the main purposes of the Spectrum/Mt. View Alumni Association is to assist the school and its students by granting scholarships and bursaries and supporting academic, fine arts, athletic, and vocational activities.

We provide four $750 scholarships each school year to deserving Spectrum graduating students – Academics, Athletics, Technology & Trades and The Brian Whitmore Arts Memorial Scholarship.

ACADEMICS

Julia Kuromi has left her mark in many areas of Spectrum.  She is one of our top academic students, a member of several sports teams and has been a prominent member of school leadership and vice president of Student Council.  Through these roles Julia is leaving spectrum a better place than when she entered, and as she starts at SFU in the fall to pursue Sustainable Energy Engineering, I am confident she will have an equal or greater impact there.

THE BRIAN WHITMORE ARTS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Autumn Curtis is an extremely talented artist who excels in drawing and painting; she is never short of creative ideas and her final pieces are incredible.  She plans to focus on the fine arts in post-secondary. She is very deserving of this award and I look forward to hearing about her artistic accomplishments in the future.

ATHLETICS

Megan Duraan has demonstrated tremendous growth and success as a dancer, since joining in grade 9.  In grade 10 she was accepted into our advanced dance program and has committed many hours to rehearsals and performances. She is professional, cooperative, and creative in her work, due to these qualities, Megan will be hugely successful in her future career as a nurse.

TRADES and TECHNOLOGY

Alrayan Adlan came to Canada when she was 13 not knowing any English.  Through her hard work and determination, she is now fluent in English, and earned 87% in English 12, an accomplishment she is immensely proud of.  She is planning on becoming a dental assistant so she can help people through moments of fear and worry in their lives.
